On Holiday Drama

There are times when we are together, and times when we are apart. This is not one of those times. This is not a clear story. There is too much at the beginning, and the middle we are in.

I am often the family member fighting for us together. The twelve year old who asked for her father to stay. The adult now more keen to get along as adults. Learning to look past each aunt and uncle, brother or cousin, accepting for who they are as a whole, because that is all we can do.

People layer their love with fear and insecurity. It’s easy to see looking at those past formations, the family who births you, the colors and shades of a mountainside too hard to peel off or move through, there’s just too much pressing down. Instead you must stand and face it.
