Amanda Lewan is a writer and community builder with a mission is to unite and move our region forward.

As co-founder and CEO of Bamboo, she leads the development and activation of a portfolio of modern spaces. Bamboo specializes in building community and fostering inclusive innovation. Her leadership has been honored locally and nationally here.

Her literary work is inspired by place and class, gender and identity, power and perspective. She believes it is time for individual and collective healing, and stories lead us there.

Her stories have been honored and published by The Rumpus, The Nation, Glimmer Train, Belt Magazine & Publishing, among others, with nominations for the Pushcart Prize & Best of Net. She’s polishing short stories and novels here.

Amanda is passionate about inclusion, innovation, storytelling, and the ways we connect and build community. She lives in Detroit with her husband Marc and their three dogs. She holds a BA in Writing from Michigan State, and an MA in English from Wayne State.
